Hello, World!

Hi! My name is Crystal, and I'm travelling from my hometown of London, Ontario, to Bellingham, Washington, USA!

Its a 40 hour trip, yikes! But I'm passing through nine different states!

I'm tagging along with an engineering team from the University of Western Ontario - they're from London, too. Only three people are going, the team captain (Doran), William, and Dew Drop!
They do really cool things in engineering, and there are lots of different types. Doran is in mechanical engineering, which means he deals with things like cars and planes and trains!

Trains look a little different than this now, I'm sure you've seen one passing through the city.

William does civil engineering, and they learn about and build bridges, skyscrapers, cranes, and houses!

Bridges are really cool, and super useful to help us get across rivers.

Dew Drop is my leader and she's studying mechatronic systems engineering. What a mouthful! She learns about robots... but also about things like the thermostat in your house, or the car locks on your door. It sounds complicated but so many things are a mechatronic system! I bet you never knew that.
This is a video of one of her school projects - a robot to help a disabled child play connect 4! It wasn't done when the video was made, but it was super fun to play when it was. There was an "AI" mode, where I could play against a computer they made named Jeeves. He usually beat me. He's really smart.
